A name with meaning and a hotel with character

ONNO is a Frisian word meaning ‘the benefactor’. This idea underpins everything that defines the hotel and sets the tone: a stay that feels like a little break, without having to travel far.
The inspiration for the ONNO comes from Rendsburg itself. The shipyards, shipbuilding and the historic fortifications in the Neuwerk district have shaped the hotel: its décor, its atmosphere and its stories. Works of art by the Swedish artist Marcus Mars, created exclusively for the ONNO, can be found in every room. This is no coincidence, but a deliberate choice.
Situated right on Paradeplatz, in the heart of Rendsburg’s old town, the ONNO enjoys a location that is both peaceful and central. The courtyard is the perfect spot for breakfast in the morning and for taking a breather during the day. 36 rooms, 12 apartments and 2 crew houses, each thoughtfully designed and furnished with an eye for detail.

Restaurant DREI

DREI has been based at our sister hotel, ConventGarten, since 2025 – and has quickly earned its place. Head chef David Holst and his team serve up North German cuisine with a Scandinavian influence: authentic, seasonal and uncomplicated. To top it off, there’s a window through which the large ships pass by, almost close enough to touch. There’s probably no better place for dinner in Rendsburg.

Our sister hotel by the canal

The ConventGarten Hotel has been in existence since 1874 and is situated right on the Kiel Canal, just a few minutes’ walk from the ONNO. With 80 rooms, 9 meeting rooms and spacious venues for parties and celebrations, it complements the ONNO whenever more space is required. The view of the large ships that pass through the canal every day is included.
