A hotel in Rendsburg steeped in history
From a small guesthouse in Rendsburg to a boutique hotel with its own art collection: the history of the ONNO is closely linked to the town and three generations of the Mäder family.
What does ONNO mean?
ONNO is a name with Nordic roots – and also the idea behind our hotel. The Frisian name is often translated as ‘the generous one’ or ‘the giver’. For us, this means one thing above all else: treat yourself to a good time.
That’s exactly why we’ve created a place where you can arrive, unwind and enjoy life. Right in the heart of Rendsburg’s historic old town, you’ll find a hotel with character, cosy retreats and genuine hospitality. Whether it’s over a glass of wine in our courtyard, a relaxing evening at Restaurant DREI or after a stroll through the town – ONNO is designed to feel like a visit to good friends.
In short: ONNO stands for Nordic serenity, special experiences and those little moments that make a stay unforgettable.

Who is behind ONNO?
Behind ONNO are people who love Rendsburg and are convinced that a hotel can be more than just a place to stay.
The ONNO Hotel was founded by Claas Normann Mäder-Rønnestad, who returned to his hometown after many years in the international hospitality industry to bring his own vision of hospitality to life. His vision: to create a hotel that reflects the history, character and way of life of Rendsburg.
Today, it has become far more than just a hotel. Together with a dedicated team, we have developed further hotels, restaurants and tourist attractions – always with the aim of introducing guests to the region in a personal and authentic way.
What drives us? The belief that the best memories are made where people are passionate about hospitality. That’s why we focus on genuine connections, personalised experiences and an atmosphere where you feel welcome from the very first moment.
